A Christ Centered Easter

By, Emily Belle Freeman

Amy's Review

Image result for Christ Centered EasterI absolutely loved this book. Emily Belle Freeman, really touches on every aspect of easter to help us believers, non believers and those whose testimony is a little bit wavering on understanding easter. She takes us through the life of christ before the ultimate sacrifice to the days after his resurrection. She gives us scriptures to study and parables that Christ taught through his ministry, and even after his resurrection.
Finally one thing that she talked about was Judas and how he betrayed Christ. Even though he did betray Christ, it was all part of the Story and plan. There was a reason why he was supposed to betray him. Instead of Judging him we need to have faith to help us understand that everything happens for a reason.
"The DIsciples on the road to Emmaus remind us that as we turn to the scriptures our hearts will burn within, we will lead to recognize the Lord, and his Spirit will abide us." - EBF
Even though this book was short in text it brings the sweet spirit of Easter and what it truly means to rejoice in Christ, and look beyond Easter Eggs and parties. I feel that if each of us following the scripture passages, parables and pray to have a testimony of easter then we all can truly rejoice in christ and come to know him just like his disciples did when he was here on the earth.
I highly recommend this book, even though it's about easter its a great book to read year round.

"On Easter Sunday we celebrate the most long awaited and glorious event in the history of the world. It is the day that changed everything. On that day, my life changed. Your life changed. The destiny of all God's Children changed.       -Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Sentimental Sundays

Sentimental Sundays instead of a Throwback Thursday

August 26, 2018

I usually do a throw back Thursday, but today I am doing a Sentimental Sunday.

This Started a few hours ago when my best friend Jen texted me with a photo of a cover of a collections of writings from High school. During my sophomore year my English teacher asked myself, Parker Covieo and Derek Child to co-edit a collections of writings that our class put together. During my sophomore year  of high school I was very much into writing and editing a collaborating on writing projects. The project that I co-edited on was a collection of writings from our classmates. This project was probably one of my favorite ones that I helped with. There are part of me that I wished that I went into journalism while I was in college, but I don't regret choosing teaching and helping run after-school programs for the last 12 years of my life. I feel beyond blessed that I did a little bit of journalism in high school. Thanks Jen for finding this gem and helping me feel so nostalgic.

The Gospel at 30,000 Feet Book Review January 16,2018

The Gospel at 30,000 Feet By,President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

When I saw that President Uchtdorf, wrote a new book. This meant more amazing stories that relate to everyday life as a latter day saint. After reading this book I felt spiritually nourished and helped me know and understand the path that I want to continue on.
I love how he uses the analogy of flight to relate to gospel principals.  I felt that through out this book I took what he said about how we can become better as latter day saints. One section of the book he talks about going through the motions of living the gospel, and how if we can recognize the signs of going through the motions then you are not that far from the path, and how we can get back to where we need to be. Other sections talk about Using our time wisely, Focusing on what matters most, Joy in church service, seeing the end from the beginning, and Patience with the lord's timing.
Some of my favorite  quotes from this book are; "Discovering who we really are is part of this great adventure called Life." "If you want to move the world you must move yourself." "The Church is designed to nourish the imperfect, the struggling and the exhausted." "We can be come masters of our own selves."
Each one of us needs to pray, ponder, search, read, to draw closer unto God, and Jesus Christ. The Holy ghost will be the wind beneath your wings. You will be converted to the church and and never fall away. We can create lift in our spiritual lives, and we can feel lifted above the clouds. Prayer helps us descend above the gloomy times.
Finally he talks about reaching out destination, and he we can have our happily ever after. We all want this eternal happiness. Heavenly Father wants this for us. There is a map for us that we can follow his plan and reach this happily ever after.
I highly recommend this book. It will bring a better understanding of different parts of the gospel that we may struggle with.

Light the World December 1-25-2017

Light The World.
December 1-25-2017

My Parents and I decided to participate in Light the World. Light the World is a world wide campaign with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, where members and non members had the opportunity to find 25 ways to serve others in 25 days.

Through this amazing opportunity My parents and I found 25 ways in 25 days to serve others. My mom felt and I agreed that when serving others these experiences are personal and should be kept sacred. However I feel that I wanted to share a couple of Experiences that I had with Light The World.
For the one of the ways that I chose to Light the World was with the Ronald McDonald House that one of my friends set up for us to participate in. I was so excited to participate in this project. The Project that we put together was providing healthy snacks for the families that were staying there. My friend found on pinterest fun ways to make the snacks into fun Christmas themed objects. The families there loved that we did this for them and their children. One of the families that we were talking to was telling us about their experience staying there and how loved they felt by those who work at the Ronald McDonald House. I feel so beyond blessed to have participated in this project. My heart will be forever changed to have gotten to know these amazing families.
Another way that I was able to Light the world was a project that I collaborated on with one of my friends. I wanted to do something special for the kids at the Boston Children's Hospital and other children that were in need this Christmas. My friend builds all sorts of of Model kits, so he thought it would be neat to purchase a few gundam Bear model kits to put together and give to the children. I thought that this was a great idea. For my part of the project I purchased and shipped the bears out to him in Boston. For his part he assembled them and delivered them to the children. It warmed my heart knowing that these children would love these small bears. Even though I was not able to be in Boston to deliver them, I still feel beyond blessed to have done this.
Children have a special place in my heart. I have taught and guided children in a academic setting, and have volunteered at children's hospitals and shelters. I may not have children of my own but I feel that these children I have come to know have irrevocable changed my heart for life.
With Light the World I truly have come to know the true meaning of Christmas and what it means to Light the World.

Walters can weave a story. Wow. The pages practically sizzled whenever Torin made an appearance... --Kristy Sartain- (Whispering Pretty Stories Reviews)

An addictive young-adult fantasy based in a realm of Greek mythology, sure to please fans of Percy Jackson and The Sweet Evil Trilogy.

*USA TODAY called Elementals a "must read!"*

Witches are real. They're descendants of the Greek gods.

"White offers an agile, endearing fantasy that fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer will adore. Her description of the call is perfectly realized: "an irresistible melodic pull, as though it was a choral magnet and she a metal filing." The narrative's strongest suit is its playfully steamy romance between destroyer and demon: "She held his wrists above his head...[and] nipped the tip of his nose with her teeth." A romping debut that's perfect for teenage fantasy fans." - Kirkus Reviews
