Light the World December 1-25-2017

Light The World.
December 1-25-2017

My Parents and I decided to participate in Light the World. Light the World is a world wide campaign with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, where members and non members had the opportunity to find 25 ways to serve others in 25 days.

Through this amazing opportunity My parents and I found 25 ways in 25 days to serve others. My mom felt and I agreed that when serving others these experiences are personal and should be kept sacred. However I feel that I wanted to share a couple of Experiences that I had with Light The World.
For the one of the ways that I chose to Light the World was with the Ronald McDonald House that one of my friends set up for us to participate in. I was so excited to participate in this project. The Project that we put together was providing healthy snacks for the families that were staying there. My friend found on pinterest fun ways to make the snacks into fun Christmas themed objects. The families there loved that we did this for them and their children. One of the families that we were talking to was telling us about their experience staying there and how loved they felt by those who work at the Ronald McDonald House. I feel so beyond blessed to have participated in this project. My heart will be forever changed to have gotten to know these amazing families.
Another way that I was able to Light the world was a project that I collaborated on with one of my friends. I wanted to do something special for the kids at the Boston Children's Hospital and other children that were in need this Christmas. My friend builds all sorts of of Model kits, so he thought it would be neat to purchase a few gundam Bear model kits to put together and give to the children. I thought that this was a great idea. For my part of the project I purchased and shipped the bears out to him in Boston. For his part he assembled them and delivered them to the children. It warmed my heart knowing that these children would love these small bears. Even though I was not able to be in Boston to deliver them, I still feel beyond blessed to have done this.
Children have a special place in my heart. I have taught and guided children in a academic setting, and have volunteered at children's hospitals and shelters. I may not have children of my own but I feel that these children I have come to know have irrevocable changed my heart for life.
With Light the World I truly have come to know the true meaning of Christmas and what it means to Light the World.
